Friends from Lexington came to town. Teresa ~ "Aunt TT," Farhad, Mel, Phil, and Me-maw Sonya were all around. During this time, there was much BART-ing in and back from the city, music playing, and ~ as always with Mommy and Papi ~ lots of sitting to eat good food.
Teresa, Mel, and Farhad performed in a belly dance show in San Francisco, called Devotion. Beforehand, Farhad rehearsed with the other musicians at Phil's daughter, Ivy's, house. They rehearsed for hours while Ivy's friends all sat down for dinner. Anjali got passed from one teenager to the next, a new experience for her. Then she crawled around on the floor and listened to the music. Sometimes she would sing along, "Aaaaa!" loudly. A few days later, we attended the dance performance in a theatre, where once again, she heard and saw the musicians. She bounced up and down, and did some singing there, too. We attended a second performance where Anjali started to sing along, but Papi took her outside because they were filming that one. .
Me-maw taught her how to "gimme five!" Weeks later, Anjali still smiles and smacks my hand when I say, "Gimme five!" Aunt TT gave Anjali her first gift of belly dance jewelry ~ a set of bangle bracelets. And Ivy, who was quite enamored with Anjali, gave her her first nickname ~ Jolly.
It was a bustling time with lots of friendly people around.
With Ivy, during the music rehearsal.
