Free-Standing

Anjali has begun standing on her own. When she holds onto my pant leg, it is with the lightest grip. Sometimes as she cruises from place to place, she lets go and stands there balanced for many seconds. Then, in a controlled manner, she lowers herself down to her knees. When an adult holds her hands and helps her walk, the movement seems so easy to her. The other night she was standing up holding onto the kitchen stool. I was a few feet away. She reeeached out for my leg, bounced slightly on her knees as if to test, then let go of the stool and stood there with her arms fully extended for a few moments. Then she lowered herself down and crawled to me. This process of "testing the water" is exhilarating to witness!
