Anjali and Papi have developed a routine of going to the playground together. While they're there, I usually go for a run. Anjali enjoys it so much, that when she knows it's time to go, she rushes to the door, turns to me and holds her hand out, instructing, "You go jog, Mom. I go to pay-gwound wif Papi." As they head out the door, an easy wave, "Bye!"
There are several playgrounds close by. She usually finds kids to play with. Yesterday at the playground, Papi thought she might need a hand while playing with a couple of older girls so he walked up to where they were. She told him to go back to where he had been sitting; "I ok," she reassured him. Oftentimes when they are done playing they go to a restaurant called Magpie, where Anjali gets a cup of yogurt, and Papi a pint of beer. When they're done at the playground near there, Anjali urges, "Let's go to Magpie!" Papi relishes these "dates" together so much, you know he agrees every time she suggests. :)
I went to the playground a couple times in the past few days with them ("you come pay wif me at de pay-gwound?"), and was impressed with how much Anjali's skills have progressed. She is confident and independent, able to do so many things on the equipment that just recently she needed help with. It is thrilling for us parents to see her finally accepted by the older kids as a legitimate playmate, after so many months of her being too little, but wanting so bad to tag along! She is beside herself with pleasure.
