Moving to Mexico, Part I

Birthday breakfast smiles at the start of our Big Day beginning travel!

We did it! We made it with a trailer of homegoods to Lumbini Gardens in Baja California Sur, Mexico!

With the help of our friends, Papi pieced our belongings into the trailer and tied them down for the long drive. We celebrated the New Year, and Papi's last shift for a long while. Papi went to Portland one last time to attempt to get a Menage de Casa approved for the move. Then on my birthday, January 4th, after a birthday breakfast at Sunnyside Up Cafe, and last-minute prepping and cleaning, we drove out the driveway!

We stopped at a motel in southern Oregon to spend the night and then drove to Sacramento the next day. I was surprised at how easy the whole drive was ~ the trailer was easy for Papi to drive with the UHaul, and Anjali was entertained happily the whole way ~ with the help of many many renditions of Christmas songs sung loudly along the way (of which I am very disappointed that I am having trouble getting videos to you!).

Here are the captions to the photos which follow:
-Papi made a fire beside the trailer to warm their hands while they packed in the Oregon chill.
Uncle Josh displaying his trailer-loading-brawn.
-Another UHaul.
-The poor kitty cats, tucked into the only available space.
-Ready to drive!
-Rest area break.
-Rodolfo, none too stressed, settles in at the motel.
-Beautiful Shasta sunrise scenery.
-Silliness.
